The Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW) qualification is also known as the ACA qualification, is the gold standard for aspiring accountants. Entry requirements

ICAEW is launching a refreshed ACA qualification from September 2025, designed to better equip students for the demands of a rapidly changing profession.

What's Changing?

• Fewer exams, smarter structure - 14 modules
• Specialised learning -  students will complete 30 units from a flexible range of online learning modules, allowing for early career upskilling and specialisation. 
• Enhanced integration of practical experience 
• Transitional Arrangements - current students can complete the ACA through either the existing or updated qualification. 
• The Next Generation ACA focuses on three key pillars:

                           1) Technology: Embedding digital skills throughout the curriculum.

                           2) Sustainability: A new Sustainability and Ethics module at the Certificate Level.

                           3) Ethics: Increased emphasis on ethical decision-making across all modules.
